Cambridge Couple - June 2010  - We got back today after a 2 night stay at this hotel and we wish we were back already. This is a great hotel on an island which has just 300 people on it, a RNLI lifeboat station, and a cafe. Its a great place to get away and forget about the world. There are just 6 rooms so you really feel like an individual rather than a room number. Wayne and his partner made us feel very welcome and important.
We stayed in room 5. It has amazing views across the sea from the bedroom. The room was tastefully decorated with flatscreen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was across the corridor (4 of the 6 rooms are en-suite, the other 2 have their own bathrooms across the corridor). This did not bother us at all as the room was at the end of the corridor, and bathrobes are provided. The bathroom was spacious, modern, clean and when you stand in the shower you can look out over the sea and Piel Castle through the window. On a clear day, like what we had, you can even see Blackpool Tower across the sea.
We did not get chance to experience dinner but the menu was extensive and not over priced. Breakfast was fantastic and my partner highly recommends the 'Full Cumbrian Breakfast'. I had smoked haddocks with poached eggs one day, and a mushroom omelette the next, all done fresh to order and very good. Our table at breakfast offered views of the sea and Piel Castle. Tea and coffee was also available with a selection of juices, cereal, toast, jam etc etc
The hotel has a cosy, homely bar, a pint will cost approx £2.50 and we also had a bottle of house Rose at £12.50. The bar has a TV, DAB radio, and a Wii for use by guests. It really feels like a home from home.
On the top floor is the 'Room of Tranquility'. This is in the top of the tower and offers amazing views out of 3 sides. There is also a telescope, and a selection of books and board games.
The hotel was approx 1 hour from Bowness-In-Windermere so its a great base to explore the lakes.
We loved this hotel because it felt like home and you are really away from all the hustle and bustle of life.
As it only has 6 rooms you could rent out every room and have a wedding party there, or an anniversary, or special birthday. I am also thinking about renting every room and taking my managers there for a team build to get away from outside distractions

Warrington Couple - May 2010 - The couple who run this small hotel are so lovely, the lady is an amazing chef, I had a steak which I can honestly say was the most tender, tasty one I have ever had in a restaurant.
Our room was beautifully clean, fantasitic views, gorgeous comfy bed, luxurious bathroom. Would definitely return

Durham Couple - April 2010 -We stayed for a night and every aspect of our visit was just marvellous. Courteous and friendly welcome, excellent evening meal, preceded by very well-priced drinks, clean, spacious room and amazing bathroom...gleamingly spotless. But the location is the extra wow with this hotel...views out to sea from the garden, conservatory, restaurant...delightful 'tower room' (up the last flight of stairs) with panoramic views, and a sense of peace, calm and relaxation that helps soothe the stresses and strains of everyday life and work. Brilliant! Oh... the breakfasts..my goodness, if anyone can do a days work after the 'fullCumbrian' then good luck to them. Superb. Recommendation with no hesitation, my third visit...and I want to know...how can I get back there soon???

Yorkshire Couple & Child - 15/03/10 -  I stayed at the Roa Island House with my husband and 5 year old son for 2 nights (Fri and Sat) We were welcomed warmly and the accomodation was was beautifully presented and extremely clean ( I was a holiday rep for 7 years and have very high expectations!!) The bathroom was stunning, very modern and up to 4 star standards, the room was a little dated decor wise but the furniture was lovely and it was very comfortable, we had a flatscreen tv, a dvd player and a DAB radio plus tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfasts were brilliant, top quality food cooked to a high standard, we ate at the restaurant on the Saturday night and we would definately recomend it, again it was top quality food which was very tasty with a complimentary wine menu!! I would go back to this hotel again and I will recomend it to family and friends.

Peterlins, USA - 25/12/09 - Thank you for a wonderful stay, great rooms, fantastic food and homely atmosphere. Highly recommend The Roa Island House to all!

Nick Woodruff, Rochdale - 06/12/09 - The warmth or the staff, comfortable and very clean surroundings, surprisingly good wholesome food at reasonable prices.

The Warringtons Stay at Roa Island - 28/11/09 - This is the second time we have stayed at Roa Island and the managers have changed for our second stay. The hotel is beautiful tranquill and a very quiet relaxed atmosphere. My husband is a chef so very picky, however the food was supurb and great value for money. The accomodation is exellent with large bedrooms very nicely decorated. The hotel is child friendly and our little boy loved playing on the nintendo wee provided for guests. Its like staying in a hotel with the comfort of home, a very relxed informal atmosphere. we enjoyed ourselves so much we have booked in for new year to re live the experience again.

John Smutek, Swindon - 23/11/09 - Accommodation was clean and comfortable and good value for money

David Calderhead, Brighton - 16/11/09 - On arrival service was prompt and cortious. Breakfast was a feast and the staff did all to make for a pleasant stay.

Sharon, Birmingham - 03/11/09 - We recommend the Roa Island House to anyone looking for a relaxing break in Cumbria. The new managers, Wayne and Melissa, are doing an amazing job with this beautiful property located at the tip of the Furness Peninsula. Care has been taken with all the details, from the furnishings and fittings in the rooms to the food. Everyone in our party was made to feel right at home, including our 7 month old daughter. The new cafe serves great food, the cooked breakfasts are ample and delicious, and by the time you read this they should be fully licensed to serve drinks. We can't wait to go back when the weather's better and see what else they've done with the place. A great, great find.
